Watch Dogs Delayed Until Spring 2014

Ubisoft's open-world game Watch Dogs has been pushed back to spring of 2014, the publisher just announced on their blog.

"Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming," the company wrote. "It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014."

Watch Dogs, originally slated for a November release, was due to be a big launch game for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which will both be out that month. It's also slated for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, and PC.

"We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now?" Ubisoft wrote. "We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. We thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the way you respond on the web, at events, press conferences and other opportunities we have to interact. Your passion keeps us motivated.

"We can’t wait to see you in Chicago next spring. We are confident you’ll love this game as much as we love working on it."

Ubisoft also announced today that their open-world racing game, The Crew, will be delayed until the next fiscal year, which ranges from April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015.
  • bummer, this was on my christmas list
  • woa....did all the people that preorderd the watchdogs PS4 bundle just lose their preorder? I would hope they would just get moved to another bundle or just the system preorder...but those are all sold out, no?

It's shitty for Ubi to do it this close to the launch.
  • I would think just move to anothe bundle. Im guessing there are plenty of CoDs to pack into the bundles, and that it is the console itself that is limited...right? JUst toss in a different game and change the picture on the console box.
  • I preordered the Watchdogs PS4 bundle from amazon and their web page says people who ordered the bundle will not lose their place in line and the system will ship without the game. So I just preordered Killzone from them.
  • Maybe Ubisoft will be able to get it to run at 60fps with the extra development time.
  • I'm glad you're still getting a console. I figured that was the case since it was a retailer bundle and not from Sony.
  • I'm kinda glad, I'm already going to be broke after my Xbox One and the slew of launch titles anyways
  • Yikes!!

Target was cancelling bundles. Games AND Consoles. Both Xbox and PS4.

Same was happening to Driveclub bundles.

    I'd be PISSED!!!
  • And amazon then went and offered me $10 off other launch titles to apologize for any inconvenience I might have had because Ubisoft pushed the title back. Gotta love amazon.
  • Amazon is the best
  • Starting to sound a lot like GTAV
